Regional Innovation Fund

These funds amount to almost €30 million and provide support for innovative individual or collaborative projects, at all stages of their development, whether originating or not from the competitiveness centres. Put forward by a business or a research unit.

The Economic Intervention Fund:

With a view to reinforcing the attractiveness of its territory, since 1996 Greater Besançon has equipped itself with a system for assisting business start-ups. Nature of the projects assisted: operations for new construction, extensions, restorations, assistance with rentals - Eligible business sectors limited to industry, artisan workshops and tertiary industrial projects, excluding transport and the agri-foodstuff industry.

The Urban Free Zone:

Instituted by the law in order to boost certain urban zones, this system provides for tax and social security exemptions in the event of set-up and recruitment of employees within the perimeter covered by the free zone.

The Grand Besançon, recruitment territory:

Recruitment of managers:

All creations of management posts within businesses of less than 50 employees, employing less than three managers, are eligible. (For R&D managers, businesses of less than 150 employees) The gross annual salary of the manager cannot be less than €25,000. The amount of the subsidy is limited to 50% of the gross annual salary (excluding commissions) and the employer contributions for the first year and limited to €25,000, of which 25% paid in the first year and 25% paid at the end of the second year if the position is permanent.

CIFRE system:

The business recruits, on a permanent or fixed term employment contract, a graduate of level M, to which it entrusts a research assignment which is strategic for its socio-economic development. The starting salary cannot be less than a gross annual amount of €23,484. The works will constitute the subject of the thesis of the employee-doctoral candidate. The annual subsidy granted to the business is extended to €14,000 (not subject to VAT).

To this subsidy is added the research tax credit (RTC), calculated on the unsubsidised part of the total costs, and which allows the business to receive an annual sum of at least €14,294.


The new doctoral contract:

This contract allows doctoral candidates, in addition to their research work, to carry out a consulting, expertise or research development assignment, with a business, local authority or government department.
